I need to make a run up to Sargent Cycle in Jacksonville on Tuesday, next week. I agreed to let them scope out my bike for a possible aftermarket seat. Just a couple hours tops at Sargent so they can do their thing. Ride up and back in one day. Anyone interested in tagging along, let me know.

Had a great day. The bike did great. The weather was really great this morning on the way up. Coming back it was a little hot and I kept hitting these rain pockets so wearing the rain gear was a pain. About 400 miles round trip. It was good primer for the Birmingham trip next week. hello2

The folks at Sargent were real nice. I got a tour of the plant. That was pretty cool to see how they make the seats.

Good to see some “American Manufacturing!”

The reason I rode up there is because Sargent is considering producing a seat for my model bike (not for me) and needed a whole bike to look over, do photos, measurements and things like that. They’d made a request on our Super Tenere forum for someone to bring their bike in but there wasn’t anyone with one in the Jax area or that we know of. So the other members got to complaining about wanting a Sargent seat, so I finally volunteered. I've never had a Sargent, but I hear they're pretty good. I'm actually good with the stock seat on this bike.

Standard fare in these situations is they use your bike and hook you with the first seat for you to supply feed back on.  I assume they took care of you??  Corbin did for one of the members on the V4 site for the VFR1200

I got the leather tank bib on my Magna that way, I sent them the dimensions & then they sent a pattern to me. I test fit the pattern & made some corrections to it & then sent it back. 2 weeks weeks later I got a $69 tank bib free for my help!!!!!

This is in the early phases of their planning. They just needed the complete bike to study and photograph for a couple hours. I got discounts on their products for taking it up, but I didn't ask for anything. They did share the loaner program with me that nets a free seat, but they'd need the bike for four to six weeks and I don't think I can do that. Also, I don't really think I want a new seat; just did it for some other guys who want to see Sargent get going. Also, it gave me a point on a map for a nice midweek ride.  Smiley
