Any cool plans for 2012? Big trips planned? New bike (car)? Career change? What? Let's hear it.

For me, we’ll have the FGT in February. In April I’m heading to Junction, Texas for a two-day adventure motorcycle challenge (sorry, missing Leesburg), then back to North Carolina in May. And finally, off to the Yukon Territories and Alaska in June. Past that, I only have the Barber Vintage Fest on the calendar for October.

I’m pretty well set on my equipment, but junior will be looking for his full-time bike in 2012. Something around 600-650cc, we’re thinking mid-2000s Suzuki V-Strom or Yamaha FZ6. He has no interest in cruisers and he also doesn't care for sportbikes, but he likes the way the FZs from around 2005 are set up with the upright riding position and the half fairings.

Think I'm selling my wrangler as soon as possible in 2012...it's been too much trouble and a huge distraction. I might go full time motorcycle in 2012. Anyone interested in a 2004 TJ?

I'm going to do Motorcycle repairs, Buying junk bikes & part them out, Also going to buy bikes that are worth repairing & resell them. As far as repair it would be more of a word of mouth thing & would not be major things such as complete engine overhauls. I find that a lot of people I know don't really have the mechanical skills to do more than basic maintenance to their bikes. I really enjoy working in my shop on bikes & want to not work for the "man" anymore, Plus I want to be able to take time off whenever I want to be able to do more bike trips. I'm going to stay at my current job long enough to finish paying off the rest of my debt & buy whatever other tools i think I'll need such as a mechanical tire changer & wheel balancer. I'm going to get rid of the rest of the shit in the garage & turn the whole thing into a dedicated shop. Maybe 1 more lift so I can have one for quicker repairs & one that a bike can stay on for longer jobs. Also going to build a lot of shelves so I can organize parts that I will sell from parting out bikes. I may go to part time at my job when I'm ready to start so that I can get it rolling.

Nothing "BIG" with a capital B, but a few things I've been wanting to do.

First, my wife wants to learn to ride. She's not sure if she's going to like it (I'm pretty sure she will) and she's terrified to try to learn on my 1100, so we'll probably buy an old Rebel or Virago shortly that she can use as a learning bike.

Also need to build my bike shed. Tired of the bike sitting under the carport, and the constant cleaning and polishing that entails. And 2 bikes won't fit there anyway.

Only big-ish trip this year is Leesburg, in April. Toying with FGT in February, but all the stars will need to align for that to happen. I'd love to do Bike Week or Biketoberfest too, but we'll have to see.

Personally, I'm going to try to get serious about getting rid of this extra weight. After the kids were diagnosed autistic, my wife and I basically gave up on fitness in any way while we focused on them. Well, that was 10 years ago and I'm still carrying that extra 50, yeah 50, pounds. (thank God I'm 6'2") I know every year I get older, it gets harder to do, so it's time to get serious.

I haven't been here in a couple of weeks but some of you know that I started a new career two weeks ago as a sales consultant at a Honda car dealership.  I haven't completely closed my biz but it has slowed enough to not be much more than part time anyway.  The first week we trained in a class room and finished up the week by shadowing experienced sales personnel.  This past Monday we started on the sales floor and I sold two car's my first day but I had to split both the deals because I didn't know how to do the paperwork.  I sold my third car and my first deal by myself yesterday and it took nine hours to complete the deal.  Let's just say my customers were Haitian.  Grin

Some of my goal's for 2012 are;

Work related
1.) Sell 18 car's a month which should average 10k+ monthly
2.) Be the sales leader every single month. (One of the sales mgr's already has a $100 bet that I beat the leading guy in January)
3.) Make management by the end of the year unless I have the opportunity to go to the finance department which is an option I am considering.

I had originally wanted to go to the Internet Sales Department and I kind of know that an invite might be coming in a few week's but I am now reconsidering and might just stay on the floor.

Personal
1.) Get back on my weight loss and complete my original goal of 220lbs. (Currently 274)
2.) Reaching my sales goals will help me realize some financial goals for this coming year
3.) Of course every year I strive to spend more time with my wife and kid and every year I fail.
4.) Attend the Honda V4 Spring Get Together in NC in May for at least a total of six days. (One day up and back and four day's there)
5.) At least make a one day appearance at the Florida Get Together.

Unfortunately I already know I will not be making Leesburg Bikefest or the Windy Acres Halloween party this year.   Sad

2012 Goals,

1. Pay Off Credit Card Debts
2. Lose 15 more LBS
3. Land a 12' Shark
4. Put in an offer on a house

Should be attainable as long as business is good. Unfortunately, selling the bike is part of the key to this madness :/

I might go full time motorcycle in 2012.

So far so good. I rode a motorcycle to work every day of January except one. Not a huge deal since it's only twenty miles round trip, but its a big deal from the standpoint it only takes 1.2 gallons of gas a week. I rode in cold and rain, and a lot of nice sunny days, but last Friday we had lightning in the morning. I don't have any gear for that crap.  Undecided
