The kid and I went to the Street Rod Southeast Nationals at the Fairgrounds (Tampa) this morning. Here's a link to the details:

http://www.floridastatefair.com/events-calendar/view/73/69

The show has about 2,000 rods, maybe more! There’s also a huge Swap Meet area and maybe 50-60 or so vendors in the main building. It took about four hours to get through the thing. Absolutely massive! If you like rods, this one is huge. Put on some sunscreen!

Below are some photos that I took, but there was way too much awesomeness to pick the best shots. So I put up a photobucket album with about 325 photos, if you’d like to review. The link is at the end of this post; best to use the slideshow button in the upper right corner.

That's always a good show and it's always hotter than hell there. Why can't they have it in November? Cool pics!

I went up to the Zephyrhills Auto Show and Auction today. It’s a big deal once a year up there. It's a car show, auction, swap-meet, vintage stock car racing, vendors, etc. etc. etc. The auctions are fun to watch.

We took some photos. They had a Lamborghini Countach and an awesome mint Speedster that topped off the exotics. Lots of muscle and a few weird things. Link below to a photobucket album if you’d like to peruse the photos.

I want that ^^^ !

Hey, just a reminder that the Street Rod Nationals are back in Tampa at the Fairgrounds this weekend. I’ve gone a couple times including last year. Thousands of cars, lots of fun. If you’ve got a day this weekend with nothing to do, here ya go. Link with details below.

Car Show
Collector Car Auction
Swap Meet
Vintage Stock Car Races (last year there were three cars and one was slower than a SmartCar, so don't go just for this  Wink )

Well we went to the Autofest today and had a great time. I went last year, too, but I thought this year was better for some reason. There was a good range/mix of cars from real old classics to the muscle years to some contemporary custom work. There were many restorers for sale of all types…pricy for what I saw, but then I wasn’t looking for one either…just an observation. Not many motorcycles, but a few (below) that were cool. Really decent auto-related vendors today. The stockcar racing was okay, but I only saw three...mostly okay cuz they were LOUD!

Photos…

This is a rare 1947 Harley Springer. Note the hinge on the rear fender to lift up the fender and pull wheel. The price was $39,900. Very cool, but Yeoow! on that number.  Shocked

A couple custom jobs.

A little vintage action. This is a 1947 998cc Vincent Black Shadow. Very nice.

Is it just me, or are Dusters super cool?  Cool

Here’s my best of show. Someone took a Mustang and turned it into a wagon. The photos don’t do justice. This was an awesome, meticulous custom job with lots of cool touches. I especially like how they retained the ‘tang back and tail lights.

Lastly, we ran into a lady carrying an infant monkey (named JJ) around the swap meet. So I asked if I could take a photo of her monkey with my son. That of course got everyone else lining up for photos. She and hubby probably just wanted to shop around the swap meet and everyone wants to see the monkey, haha. But HEY, Monkeys are cool!
