ok, so i wouldnt really call it a ''sport bike'' bit it looks like one, lol. i was looking into something cheap that gets great gas mileage for commuting the .5 mi to work everyday. i came across the Lifan LF200iii

lifan is a chinese company. they apparently make alot of different cars and motorcycles in china but only a few bikes that they sell here. the price of the bike is 2,000 brand new, i have seen a few used (less than 1k miles on them) sell for around 500 bucks on ebay

i laugh at the term sport bike because it contains a 200cc single cyl motor that puts out a whopping 16hp at 8k

BUT i have read many reviews of people getting 100mpg out of it. which is great, i dont even travel that far a month

i also came across this-

its a QLINK (also a china bike, but seems to be more reputable)

its the same idea as the lifan, keep the sporty look, with a conservative motor

this one is also a single cyl but it is 250cc and is rated at 18hp at 5500rpm
its about $3500 new

is it just me or does it remind anyone of a ducati?

Both look pretty good, anymore china has been really stepping up on the quality control of their products. Most likely these are clones of other bikes or bikes built upon clone engines which really isn't terrible as often they're just as good if not better than the originals.

But if you're more comfortable with the real deal you should buy my vtr250  Grin Anymore I'm leaning towards getting something a bit bigger to learn on.

PM me some more info on your bike, i do need to get something as i have NO mode of transportation right now. what kind of gas mileage do get out of it? as of late i am more concerned with how much money i can save rather than how much power i can get, lol

I don't think I could ever buy a Chinese bike. The Chinese makers copy everything but I can't see how the quality is still there. The resale value is really bad, too. I'd get a used Japanese bike first.

I think that's a British bike called Megelli; no doubt made in China like everything else.  Smiley

yeah, after i posted that i found alot of more info on it. apparently that one i found the ''megelli 250r'' just became avail for sale in the US this month. i have actually heard alot of good things about them (as long as you are not looking for a powerful bike) they are cheaper than the Ninja 250r and the Megelli has a 2 year warranty were as the Ninja is a 1 year. i read on the Kawasaki forums that the two bikes are VERY comparable

Just buy a Ninja 250! They can be had for about the same price AND you will actually be able to get parts when you need them Wink
