There are too many cool classic photos getting buried in our other threads. Let’s post the real old stuff here, and I’ll move what I’ve posted over. Post up any information you have/know about these old photos, the bikes, folks, etc.  This 1938 German Prototype goes by the name of its designers, Killinger & Freund. It’s front-wheel drive, with a 600cc three-cylinder engine, although I’ve seen some arguments that it has three one-cylinder engines. It was found in a German warehouse by the US Military in 1945. Whereabouts today, unknown. |

Found it... Harley-Motorcycles.org: Otto Walker was a leading motorcycle racer in the 1910s and early 1920s and was one of Harley-Davidson’s first factory riders. Walker won the first major race for the Harley-Davidson factory team on April of 1915– an FAM 300-mile road race in Venice, California. Walker set numerous speed records during his eight-year professional racing career. You can always tell Matchless because they werre the sole UK WW2 motorcycle with telescopics. ################# But why does the truck have a Chevrolet logo  $$$$$$$$$$$ BTW--the pic of the Indian is a 1940 |

It's another to recognize old bike "forks!" Here's the description from the site: "Thanks to Steve Pierce for this picture of his father John (Jack) Pierce, who is now 95 and still going stong (on the right) riding a BSA M20 500 fitted with teledraulic forks from a Matchless 350. It was taken in 1942 while serving with 660 company Royal Engineers. He built the bike from salvaged parts after the M20s front end was damaged in transit, with help from a New Zealand engineering company who were able to harden the head bearing cups in the field and supply the ball bearings." As far as the Chevy logo, you never know...there are a lot of creative photoshoppers out there. This photo is far too cool; I hope its not shopped. |
