It just had to be done … back flipping a 580 pound Harley … twice in one day!

So it appears that the first back flip in Australia was an “upstage” of the second back flip planned later that day for the Gladiator Games in Prague.

I know the second one didn't have as much room after landing but he should have stayed on a bit longer of course that is assuming he bailed on purpose.
I like the first one better anyway.  hello2

One thing I can say is they either have bigger balls or are crazier than me...or both!! laughing7

He definitely didn’t have much room in there, but I think he just went about six or so feet too far. He needed the ramp back a little. It appears that he face plants on the tank or bar and then goes flying.

There are some guys on the XR Owners Forum who know both of these dudes and say neither had ever done the back flip on the Harley, until they actually did it.

A little more post flip information…

The bike in the first flip (Australia) had a suspension modified specifically for jumps. This isn’t the specific bike, but apparently it was modified by the same company and is similar. This is American Seth Enslow’s XR used for "regular" jumps.

The bike in the second flip (Prague) had an all stock suspension (so goes the claim and I can’t tell by the vid). I can tell that he crumples pretty bad on landing, but he got up.

Motorcycle News.com (January 4, 2010): "The Australians behind the world’s first Harley backflip show no sign of halting their campaign to get the Yankee iron doing everything its two-wheeled cousins can do... louder. Quick-Fix Harley Mildura Australia rider Phillip Jones has successfully ridden a Harley-Davidson Sportster round an ironwork ‘globe of death’ (like a wall of death but completely spherical), completing the feet with spectacular aplomb from (almost) the get go. Enjoy!"

Yes, he cracks up a few times before getting it right.

157.6 foot jump on a very modified XR1200. I believe it's the Aussies from the first post who did the backflip.
