The Wild One, Justin Barcia, won the final race of the East Region Lites placing second behind Christophe Pourcel in the East Region Championship. Not bad for a rookie!

Uh, if you watched the race today perhaps you heard Jeff Emig go on about how Justin Barcia reminds him of Bob Hannah. Hmmm, where’d we hear that already? Post 50.  Wink

Congrats to Justin on his win. Just think how close the points would have been if he had done better at Atlanta (I think that's where he had a bad showing).
**Just checked the results for that Atlanta race and he finished 18th. If he had finished 5th then the points would be tied right now if I looked at the numbers right. Oh well, it has been a good rookie season for him anyway.**

Jeff Emig probably read that about Justin looking like Bob Hannah on here.  Grin Grin Grin

Good call back on post #50 dt

here is a link to that post to make it easier

Hah! That would be funny.

Congrats to Justin on his win. Just think how close the points would have been if he had done better at Atlanta (I think that's where he had a bad showing). Yeah, Atlanta was a killer. You got the points right. Justin finished second in the East Region, 13 points behind Christophe. He got 3 points in Atlanta and fifth would have been worth 16 and a tie. Everything else status quo, a fourth in Atlanta, and he'd be the East Region Champion in his rookie season.

The gap between Christophe and Justin was 37 last week at Houston, and the reason it closed so much was Christophe had a DNF Saturday (1 point!). More weirdness in St. Louis, Christophe's bike literally got hung up on top of a tuff block during the first lap. As Justin lapped him, after one lap, Christophe and two field crew guys were still trying to get it off. When he finally got it off, he did four more laps and called it a night.  Grin

I’d mentioned that RV crashed with Ryan Dungey earlier in the main in St. Louis, before the crash that resulted in his broken leg. I found it on youtube this morning. It’s actually quite controversial as you’ll see, and if not for the later injury, I’d think there would be a lot more discussion, and maybe even some penalties for this move. Given that Dungey went on for the win, no harm-no foul, I guess.

We have our 2010 Supercross Champion…Ryan Dungey and Rockstar Suzuki (Roger Decoster’s Team). Placing fourth Saturday, Ryan played it very conservative in Seattle on by far the toughest track during the 2010 Series. Ryan is the second rookie to win the Supercross title. The last was Jeff Ward in 1985.

Otherwise, here’s the podium:

1. Kevin Windham (Honda; First win since 2008)
2. Tommy Hahn (Suzuki)
3. Justin Brayton (Yamaha)

Kevin Windham

The Seattle track was horrible!

All they could do was slowly duck walk through this section and if they got sideways, as many did, it was an assured fall.

Next stop…Salt Lake City. Keep an eye on Kevin Windham as he tries to place No. 2 in the Series.

They had to crawl through that section duck walking. It was aweful, and Dungey in particular had a terrible time with it. Windham, on the other hand, seemed to handle it okay.

btw where ya been scoot?

Also, every time I go to the Forest Glen website to see what's going on, it says they're temporarily closed. What's going on over there?

If you thought the track in Seattle was bad, here’s what the pros might be facing Saturday night at the “open” Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City…snow. Below is a photo of the track at 3PM today. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow too. Sweet!  Grin

Set your DVRs. Supercross is back on CBS this weekend, Sunday at noon. Lites on Speed, Sunday at 6PM.

Let’s see if Kevin Windham can grab another win and secure second place in the Championship.

They had it all in Utah, rain, sleet and snow. It was so bad that the AMA cut the main event from 20 to 15 laps. It was awesome to watch and Kevin Windham pulled off his second win in two weeks. Last week’s win was his first since the 2008 season. Saturday night’s win still doesn’t assure him second in the Championship. Placing second, Davi Millsaps has moved within 20 points of Kevin’s 273. There are 25 more points on the line in Las Vegas next week.

Podium

1. Kevin Windham (Honda)
2. Davi Millsaps (Honda)
3. Andrew Short (Honda)

^^First Honda Sweep!^^

Kevin Windham

Davi Millsaps

2010 Champ Ryan Dungey

Cold, wet fans.

West Coast Lites wrapped in Utah with Jake Weimer taking the West Championship, although coming in fifth for the night. Invitations will now go out to 40 riders from both the East and West Regions for next week’s shootout; 20 from each region. We can pretty much guess who’s getting the invites, but I’ll report when it gets released.

Speed’s live coverage of the Vegas Supercross Finale was excellent last night. Three and a half hours long, they aired every race without commercial interruptions.

Bragging rights go to West Region Champ, Jake Weimer for winning the East West Lites Shootout. In an unprecedented race, Jake and the other three Pro Circuit Kawasaki Team riders swept the top four places in the shootout, nearly from start to finish.

Weimer (1w), Josh Hanson (100), Christophe (1e), Dean Wilson (108)

Supercross Podium

1. Ryan Dungey
2. Chad Reed
3. Kevin Windham

Ryan Dungey creamed the competition last night in both his heat and the main. He owns the No. 1 Plate next year.

Chad Reed had his first podium and showed he's still got it after being out most of the season.

Final 2010 Supercross Standings

1. Ryan Dungey (Suzuki), 363
2. Kevin Windham (Honda), 293
3. Davi Millsaps (Honda), 268
4. Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki), 266
5. Justin Brayton (Yamaha), 238

Until next year…
