Hah! That’s an Old Bike Barn bike; says at the end of the item description:

“People looking at this auction who know this bike may be aware that it is owned by OldBikeBarn, so why is it being sold by Rice Paddy? Simple, they don't do EBay and we do.”

I didn't know they did stuff like this. OBB started out as kind of a salvage, principally vintage, which is how I know them, and then moved big-time into online. Anyway, as an on-line parts outfit, OBB has probably the worst reputation in the world. If you google Old Bike Barn Complaints or similar, you’ll find a ton of blogs and threads of people rambling through their experiences. Doesn’t it strike you that an Internet-based company doesn’t “do” eBay?

Aside from that stuff, I think it’s a cool bike. That vintage front fender plate is kind of neat.

That's a Carpy bike from www.cb750cafe.com. In fact, here it is on this page, http://www.cb750cafe.com/carpy.php. Carpy is our Honda CB Cafe hero.

I still think it's cool.  3X Cool

So Bones, you're the Cafe' guy; what do you think that's worth?

$8,000 tops. I know the engine is completely rebuilt. It's like a new bike.

With a BIN of $26,000, I suspect the reserve is higher than $8,000.

Bidding is up to $2,225.  Smiley

Ha! I got this email from OBB just last night. I haven't bought anything from them in a long time, but I'm still on their mailing list. They're obviously trying to drum up some interest for the Cafe'.
_____________

Hi Bear here at Old Bike Barn

I wanted to drop you a line and let you know that the Famous Cafe Racer I own, built by Carpy in Cali with many parts available at OBB is up for aution on eBay.

It's being sold by my good friends at Rice Paddy Motorcycles since they're eBay experts and regularly list complete bikes with 35000 plus feed back rating!

I have had alot of fun with this bike but its time for some new OBB projects and I'm willing to let someone else enjoy this world famous machine, I'm hoping it ends up in a famous collection or maybe in a museum, somebody please tell Mr. Leno about it!

So about the bike... Yes this is the bike you saw in the magazines.  What magazine?  Any one...  This bike has been in 16 different magazines and is commonly referred to as the worlds most famous café bike.  What other bike can you say that about ?  I have seen $100,000 choppers that didn't make it past 1 magazine and brand new hyper bikes that only make it into the 4 mainstream mags.  But this cross cultural statement of purity reaches across 16 different niche markets in a way meaningful enough to grant it a feature article.  This is Carpy's first bike built in America.  This bike is not only iconic but no other bike will be his first and have a splash like this one. This bike is the essence of rockabilly rocker culture and looking at it for even a second lets you know this without a doubt.

Incorporating such features as finned engine covers, fiberglass tailpiece, borrani style H rim front wheel, race gas tank, individual air filters, 4 into 1 exhaust, chrome swingarm, remote reservoir shocks, lucas style tail light, clubman handlebars, drilled brakes for weight reduction, and rearsets for better ground clearance.

This is not the kind of bike you see every day nor is it the build quality that you get from hiring somebody local who is trying out a new line of work.  This is the product of vision and determination and 16 magazines agree.  There is no better way to buy a boatload of instant street cred than by purchasing this bike.

Here's the link on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190370837759&viewitem=&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D1&category=80647

Also don't forget Old Bike Barn's annual 20% sale is extended through Febuary 15Th 2010!

I got a couple other emails from OBB on the Cafe'. This one below came in at around 7:30 last night and exposed the reserve. High bid was $11,211. I see they dropped the bin, too.

Old Bike Barn listed the Cafe again and bidding ended tonight at $8,700; reserve not met. Crap! He needs to get a second chance offer out to the dude that bid $11,211 the first time ... or keep it.
