mcNews 2-12-2010: “Legendary daredevil
Bubba Blackwell has announced he will recreate his infamous attempt to break his own record for most cars jumped aboard a
Harley-Davidson XR750 on June 12, 2010 at New Hampshire’s Rockingham Park. Back in 2001, Blackwell spectacularly failed to clear 22 cars in an attempt to surpass his long-standing 20-car jump record from 1998. Blackwell hopes this year’s attempt to clear 22 Ford Focus cars will end in less spectacular fashion than seen in these photos from 2001.” [posted below]

Seriously! Those XR750s aren’t made for that crap. Evel proved it time after time, and Bobby K. went to dirt bikes (substantially modified) for the travel in both the front and rear. In fact, I read that the frames on the XR’s busted most of the time Evel jumped them. Here’s what happened last time to Bubba; not a frame issue, but…
Swiped from Wikipedia:
“Bubba Blackwell began his career on April 26, 1998, when he jumped 20 cars in Everett, MA, breaking the 19 car record held by Evel Knievel. The following year, on July 4, 1999, Bubba jumped 14 buses at Del Mar Fair in California, tying the record held by Evel Knievel, who leapt 14 buses at Kings Island in 1975 (although Knievel's rear tire touched the 14th bus, his landing was successful). Five months later, Bubba would break Knievel's bus-jumping record by jumping 15 buses.
Bubba broke Evel Knievel's last remaining jump record on on a Harley-Davidson XR-750 by jumping 52 stacked cars on October 4, 2008 (Knievel created the record in 1973 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum [3]). The jump took place at the Deep South Speedway located between Pensacola, Florida and Mobile, Alabama. The jump also marked Bubba's 41st birthday.”
