If you own a Toyota (I have a Tundra), you're probably keeping abreast of their current issues and developments. Here's an article on Yahoo! this morning about a Prius that went out of control over on the west coast ... acceleration wise, with no brakes ... and how they got it to stop. It was being driven by a 61 yo, who was on 911 trying to get some help. What I found hard to believe, but accept, is that a Prius can actually go 94 mph.  Smiley

I just read about that on CNN.com. I know a few people that own those cars. I feel sorry for them. Unproven technology. Another example of the public being the unwitting test subject.

Nothing beats a cable attached to a carb.

Why didn't they just turn the key off at the beginning? Would the brakes still work on that car?

Do people panic and forget to turn it off or put the damn thing in neutral?

Would it be poor taste to put the words "Death Ride" on either side of my Toyota's T logo?

I just watched the story. The driver said the car was unresponsive while it was going at full throttle. If I had one of those, I'd be scared to drive it now. It's a death trap.

On the other hand, if you're willing to take the chance, I'm thinking there are a lot of cheap Prius' for sale starting today.

Why on earth would Toyota pay an employee $4 million in severence? Quiet money, perhaps?

It apparently didn't work. Check this article on CNN this morning:
