Hey. Thanks for the post on this. It seems like these smaller bikefests are popping up all over the place. To me it kind of says that the smaller towns around the state are recognizing the economic pop that they get out of these things. I might go and enter in the stock Sportster show. Who knows... Grin

I'm planning on heading up Saturday also, assuming nothing gets in my way, which is always a possiblity. It looks like that day has the main doings.

Maybe we can get some photos to share with the rest while we're there.

bump...again  Smiley

Weather report...

>Saturday, mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain, highs in the upper 80s
>Saturday evening, partly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain, around 70 degrees
>Sunday, partly cloudy with a 30% chance of rain, highs in the 90s

All in all...about the best "August Florida" weather forecast one could probably ask for.  Grin

I rode up to the Starke Bikefest today…got up there late morning and hung around until about two thirty or so. Nice ride, it was 320 miles round trip and although it seemed to sprinkle a lot, I never got any real rain. There wasn’t a lot of strangeness like we saw at Leesburg. I’d say it was much more skewed Harley (if you can imagine) and most all of them were newer baggers…nice stuff actually. Not many vendors to speak of (two dozen maybe), but they did have a dyno on site that was pretty cool; yeah, it had a big open side so you could see what all they did. Also, a couple bands rocking away, but not much else going on. It’s probably getting to rockin’ good right about now and into the evening.

Took some photos. Since it’s been kind of slow, I’ll just lob them all up for you to take a look at. Sorry, no strategy…I just snapped photos here and there and tried to get some cool stuff.

Yeah, they were cranking up some Hogs in the Dyno!

Typical bike fest fare…they really did jiggle too.

This thing friggin’ rocked. It was in the bike contest.

The same dudes did this work for the chopper contest.

I saw three or four boss hoss’s. This one was in the bike contest.

These were the only stock Sportys entered. Should have pulled my XR in there and entered it.

Part 2

Look small? It was a tiny thing. Looked like a toy with a VTwin.

His n’ her Boulevards

Man, I hope 30 Days tells us he tried this in his report.  Grin

This band did a lot of Skynyrd! Dude with the hat looked a little like Ronnie Van Zant too.

Sausage on a “pita” and Spinach pie at a bike fest?
Well hey, they should have also had a quiche bake off and Flaugnarde with prunes for everyone.

I really don’t even know what to say about that.

I could own one of these.

Thought I had a photo, but two times a friggin’ train came right though the middle of the bike fest!

There you go…with one exception, that I need to put in Bag’s Rat Bike Thread.

One other thing, unrelated to the fest. If you’ve ever been up on US301 north of Ocala you see billboards put up by the AAA as in the photo below. I’m sure you know this story, because it goes back to 2005, but the AAA listed Waldo, Florida and Lawtey, Florida (on each side of Starke) as the only two “organized speed traps” in the entire country…thus the billboards. Article. Anyway, I’ve been back and forth through there several times recently, and this time I pulled over and got a photo for my album.  Grin

Probably your best bet is the local sponsors:
