OK... much has been done to the SV to get it ready for the Dragon run.

1.  relocated the vapor gauges. Those clamps I had rigged up looked like ass. I made a simple mount from the aluminum nerf bars that used to be on the handle bars. pics coming soon.

2.  New pilot 2 tires. Me like. Very much. However, the bike needs new head bearings.  Embarrassed Embarrassed Couldn't really tell too much until it was up on the lift.  BangHead

Also, while installing the new tires, my mechanic discovered that the swingarm was torqued down incorrectly by the PO and had some play in it. Thats fixed. The PO also used the wrong hardware on the rear brake caliper. The bolts were too short and were barely gripping. WTF! He swapped new bolts on and we are good to go. I LOVE this mechanic!

3. Swapped out the Renthal bars and then raised the handle bars with the Mr. Bones-style trick with the upside down old bar clamps. MUCH better riding position. Bring them one inch closer and it's much better for me and my 43 year old back. Those wide Renthals are now for sale if anybody is interested. I will put up a post about them soon.

Interestingly, the flat spot in the neck bearings is much more obvious now that I am not putting so much pressure on the bars by having to lean so far forward. I don't know why.

4. Got some new aluminum OEM control levers. Those carbon-fiber looking ones had to go.

5. I have cranked down the pre-load adjusters on the forks to the max. Front-end dive on braking is nearly gone. When the forks come off for the neck bearing job, I am going to swap out the oil for something thicker. I have no idea what is in there. I am guessing the springs are original. I can't afford anything else right now.

6. I need some tail luggage for the Dragon run. Anybody have any extra gear they want to sell?

I would rather be on my SV any day of the week. It seems like they are nearly the same length!

Aluminum bar cut, drilled, and smoothed to make new bracket for the Vapor. New bar end mirrors. Can actually see what's behind me know.

That bike looks like it's finally getting sorted out. After comparing pics between yours and mine, I think that whole front end is from a 2nd gen.

Found a new (1 ride) Corbin seat on Ebay being sold by a guy only a few towns away from me. He said he rode it around the block, hated it, and took it off. I think I saved about $80. The thing looks absolutely brand new.

Check out the difference in shape between stock and Corbin.

I rode it about 40 miles today. This seat completely changes the feel of the bike. I honestly feel like I am part of the machine instead of just sitting on top of it. Unbelievable!

Nice find. You're going to need that for what Jamie has planned for us a week from Tuesday.  Grin

When I first got my Corbin, I didn't think it was really any better than the stock seat. But I had a bunch of guys around telling me to stick with it and it'll break in. It did, but it's only a 300 mile seat at best. Better than the stocker that was good for only about 150, but the last 200 of a 500 mile day are still a pain in the...

My new Royal Star has had a Corbin added.  It does sit good.  In the paper work that came with it, there is a receipt for $1,433 the original owner gave for it, the sissy bar and back rest.  For that, I think there should be some massaging or something along with it!
