Seeing our new member’s (Eddie_Zero) show bike reminded me about the Annual Florida Motorcycle Expo. Here’ it is…

The 13th Annual Florida Motorcycle Expo and Bike Builders’ Invitational is back in Clearwater again this year, but at a new location…see below. This event is sponsored by Florida Full Throttle Magazine.

Dates: January 28-29-30, 2011
Place: Quaker Steak and Lube, 10400 49th Street North, Clearwater ( Map )
Admission: Can’t seem to find it, but will and post up later. It was $10 last year.

The expo in January 2010 was held in the large three-story Harbor Center in Clearwater, with the show bikes on the top floor and then tons of vendor booths on the bottom floor. Also, outside, they had a few dealers, more vendors and some bands. This year it looks like they’ll have the show bikes under two large tents near the Quaker Steak and Lube. I'm sure they're also have the vendors, bands and other activities too.

Anyway, here’s the thread from the 2010 Expo with a Photoblast so you can take a look. Definitely worth it.

See you there…

Oh, iirc the award winners were based on a peoples choice basis. We got a ballot and then picked what we thought was the best and then turned the ballot in when we left.

Gonna be a busy month, with Gibbtown in the middle of the month, and this at the end.

What's Gibbtown? Nothing pops up on Google.

Bump…

Just a reminder that we’ve got a couple good events this coming weekend. The Expo that runs Friday through Sunday in Clearwater and the Dania Beach Vintage Show on Saturday.

The outdoor setup of the EXPO this year at Quaker Steak and Lube was a lot better than over at the Harbor View Center. However, if you didn’t ride your bike, parking was hit or miss. The bike-only parking out in front of the restaurant seemed very adequate but if, like me and my son, you drove your car it was ridiculous. We arrived at 11am and got a spot that only a 4wd Wrangler could address…glad we had one. By the time we left, people arriving were waiting for people to leave. Bummer, especially if they drove in from long distances.

The actual expo area was large with vendors outside and inside one of the two mammoth tents. As far as the quality of the vendors…well, let’s just say I didn’t buy anything. But I did get some photos of the girls from Strip Club Choppers…whoohoo! As far as the build off…hmmm…not sure if that stuff is just wearing on me or what, but I really wasn’t impressed. First, I saw too many of the same custom bikes I saw last year. Second, there really wasn’t that much of anything else. But I did see a Norley.

Anyway, it runs until 10pm tonight and tomorrow until 6pm. The only fee is five bucks to get in the build-off tent and one vendor tent. Not sure it’s worth it if you’ve been to past Expos…if you go take your motorcycle ‘cuz there’s no way to park.

Here are a few photos and here’s a photobucket slideshow with everything.

Haha! I bought a raffle ticket for that Triumph and then asked her to stand next to my “future motorcycle.” Not much of the motorcycle made it in the shot.  Grin
