Hey Drod! What have you been up to? How's the bobber going?

I probably can't do both the Expo and this, so can you get a bunch of photos?

I am not a big fan of bike shows but I do like the old stuff.  I just put it in my calendar at least for the show, I doubt I will do the poker run but you never know if the mood strikes.

That's actually not far for me. I can zip down US27, then I75 and I595. I don't really like taking the bike on I95 or I595. Any of you guys know an east/west road that would get me there without feeling like I am going to die any minute?

Yea you can go south on 27 and right before Griffin rd. make a left into Cafe 27 (Truck stop) and grab a bite.Great place, lots a bikes and great music.
When your done head east on griffin.Nice quiet roads with little traffic (out west anyways) not to many lights.Lots of bikers going and coming both directions.
Ride safe...

Dan, I don't like riding the expressway's either but only because it is boring.  Other than that I feel safer as long as I am moving out ahead of traffic.  I figure I don't have to worry too much about someone pulling out in front of or making a left turn in front of me which is probably the cause of the highest percentage of motorcycle accidents.  Just my .02...

Although, I did see someone make a left hand turn from the center lane one night.  Northbound, the dude just turned left and smacked the retaining wall head on and bounced back out into traffic.  I have no idea why but it was probably one of the coolest accidents I have ever seen.   Grin

I know Cafe 27. I stopped by on Sunday. I knew a few of those roads went all the way in but wasn't sure which ones would be best. Thanks.

I know you are right, but I still hate I95.

Last time I was on I595 a guy in a souped up Honda Civic came up behind me doing about 80. He either didn't see me or thought it would be cute to wait until he almost hit me before he passed me, while still partially in my lane.

It's kind of disconcerting when you can see a car bumper go by when you are looking down between your side and your elbow.

I don't ride I95 down here either...It's like a race track down this way.Since the show is gonna be on Saturday,595 shouldn't be to bad
going east.I take that route everyday to work.I get off at 0800 on Saturday and the traffic isn't bad at all.

You are right.I have been down them quite a few times in a car. I75 & I595 aren't usually bad at all except right around the airport. I don't even like being on I95 in my car that far south.

1h10m using freeways
1h30m using the Griffin Road route

Putting this one on my calendar.

Wow! Lots of good stuff. Thanks for posting the photos.

This bike is a Harley-Davidson Armstrong MT500. There’s a guy over here in Tampa with one…that might be it. It’s a motorcycle that HD made only for the British Army in the mid 80s through 90s and then they leaked out to the market after the last Iraq war and many made it over to the states. They’re a hot item for dual sport riders because they’re rugged as all get up and pack a tough 500cc Rotax. There was a 350 version too.

Sweeeeet, thanks for sharing.  Bummer, that I missed it but it was almost worth it since my basketball team got our 2nd win in row today to a team that was supposed to destroy us.   Grin

I rode down for a little while on Saturday.
Tons of cool bikes.

I forgot what this one was. It was a neat bike. Most really old bikes seemed kind of simply made. This one had all kinds of stuff. There were three levers just on the left hand. I have no idea what all the levers do.

I know it was a bike show but this El Camino was really nice. Almost all original. The sign said it was even the original paint job. Oh yea, there is a triumph in the back.  Wink

It was cool seeing one of these. A bike really before it's time.

I probably walked right by you Drod13.

There were lots of bikes and lots of people but not a huge area. The bikes were kind of in a circle. So you could just walk aroud and see them all.

I think the crowd might have been bigger then the promoters thought it was going to be. The few food vendors there were really, really busy.

It was a really nice day weather wise.
