hey,

well basically in short, i have been living in India and now i have moved over to Florida to go to wyotech to study.

while i was in India i found my self a 1966 350 royal enfield bullet witch i restored and made it into a cafe racer.

and basically i want to bring it over to Florida. no i have no issue getting it into America since its over 25 years old.

but i have no idea about the registration proses for motorcycles in Florida. and also i will have to get a Florida motorcycle license.

i have spent hours on the internet trying to figure it out, but its all so complicated.

so i would really appreciate any information on both topics, the bike registration and license process

thanks

I can't help you on importing.

On the drivers license. Are you going to be a Florida resident with a Florida DL?

If yes, then generally you have to take the safety class. If you have a motorcycle endorsement on your current license then you might be able to be grandfathered in. If you don't you probably have to take the class.

I took this one.

An internet search will probably show you a good one in your area.

Complete the class, then you can have the motorcycle endorsement added to your license. You have to take the certificate to the DMV. It's not automatic.

yeah i looked at doing that, but i don't hold a Florida drivers license. i actually hold a Chinese drivers license, so i am going to have to do the whole thing from the beginning. and i know the car driver license take a long time, so im just going to get a motorbike only license, and i understand how that is done, roughly.

i just have no idea how to register a motorbike here. because im assuming it will have to be inspected and pass some sort of test, and get a VIN number and stuff like that.

thanks

Welcome Eddy6969. That is one coooool motorcycle!  Cool

As to your registration question, the only difference between registering a car and a motorcycle is that you sometimes don’t need an insurance certificate for a motorcycle (when you have health insurance)…oh, and you get a smaller license plate.

First though, you need to title a motorcycle in Florida in order to register it in Florida. A title is a certificate that is issued by the state after you prove that you own the motorcycle. You either transfer an existing title or you start from scratch with more documents, like the Bill of Sale. Registering a "titled" motorcycle means registering it for use on the highways...that is, getting a license plate, a little date stamped sticker and a piece of paper that has the motorcycle information (i.e. VIN) that you have to carry. You need to have residency in Florida to title a vehicle in Florida.

Both titles and registrations are handled through the County Tax Collector’s Office in the Florida County that you will reside in. Your drivers license is handled totally separately by the Drivers License Offices of the Department of Motor Vehicle which is different than the Tax Collector. You will definitely be required to have the motorcycle's VIN verified (a Notary does this); you may or may not need to have the motorcycle inspected. The Tax Collector's office will tell you if, and if so, where to have it done. If you haven't already, read through the link below which has some additional information and call the Tax Collector’s Office in the County where you're going to take up residency and tell them what you want to do. They will get you the rest of the way.

Hope that helps. Good luck…

Welcome to the site. You have come to the right place for help. There are guys on this site who have been through it ALL when it comes to getting a title so I am sure they can get you on the right path.

Great looking bike, and again welcome. Biker with Flag

They have combined them now in some counties. My county never seems to get your tag back on time if you do it by mail, so I always do it in person. Use to be easy. The office is right across the street. Now you have to wait in the same line as all the DL seekers. Made for a long wait last time.
