I don't know the spec's of this particular bike but lower shocks and then moving the forks up a small amount in the triple tree is always the easy way.  Be careful though, that you might need a shorter kick stand.  The short cut for a lower kick stand depending on how much lower you need is to heat it up and bend it out some.  The more professional way is to cut it and re-weld it or buy a shorter one.  Measure your shocks from the center of the eye's and go shopping on EBay.  If you raise the forks up too much in the triple tree you might need to cut down the front springs a bit also.  None of it super technical work but a lot "Figuring" and eye balling.   Grin

Put your location in your signature, you never know who is close by and willing to lend a hand.

Welcome to the forum flh78.

What’s driving you to lowering the vstar? Seat height, handling, looks?

I think that has a mono shock on the rear. There are lowering kits for monos. Below is a link to some kits. I’ve installed these before (on dirt bikes, though). But lots of things change when you do this so, again, why are you lowering?

Welcome to the forums! Grin I have a V-Star 650 that was slammed.I installed the mono-shock they came with but didn't like the stock height so I J-slammed it.
check it out...http://www.stargis.net/webslinger/Docs/slam.pdf  It gives you step by step instructions and it looks and handles better now.
