Well, it’s time…

Man, I put a lot of time and effort into this old scrambler, but it needs to go. It’s a custom vintage 1974 Yamaha SC500-A motocrosser (Frame 363-020967; engine 363-022589) that I've customized into a desert scrambler. In its hey-day, this thing was an absolute beast, although short lived because Yamaha's YZ line started right on the tail of its two year production history. At the moment it’s in storage and I desperately need the space in there or I’m going to have to fork out for a larger unit.

Powertrain highlights include a completely freshened top end with a…hold your breath…4th over 96mm piston (that’s about the size of a coffee can), crank bearings, all seals, fresh clutch plates and a Circle-F competition pipe. It’s got new Michelin sandies on new DID rims and an AHRMA legal suspension that includes Works shocks and heavy duty fork springs inside a new set of Forks by Frank. The frame, triple and swingarms (yes 2 swingarms) were powder coated fast-yellow by our favorite powder coater…All American…sweet! Both the OE and trick-5-inch extended swing arm in the picture come with the bike. The tank is a Clarke replica YZ250-A and the fenders are replica MX250 of the same era. That and much more. $1750 obo.

A collector from up in Zephyrhills jumped on it off the Craigslist listing and really pushed to close. These aren't particularly rare, but he liked the changes. I keep a really good log when I do something like that and try and get as much history as possible. I attached it, check it out. I was the second owner.
