Thank you.

Those Scala Q2 models seemed to be the best price for the features one gets with them. Under $200 looking around. We'll give 'em a try. Smiley

Picking away at my “touring to-do” list this afternoon, I hardwired my Slime Air Compressor lead from the Fuzeblock to under the seat. The photo looks down into the compartment. The compressor itself fit neatly in the corner of the compartment under the seat, almost like the compartment was made for it, and left room for the cable, hose and my tire repair kit. So I ran the lead under there as well. Now all my tire care stuff is in one place, under the seat.

btw, everything was waterproofed, plastic bagged and secured before I put the seat back on.

Speaking of wireless headsets, what kind do you all have and do they work good? I'd like to get one for me and junior.

I think I have the same one as Jamie. It's the cardo scala rider Q2. We did sync them when we rode together. Easy to do and they stayed synced with my wife's.

My head set works pretty good as an intercom. I tried playing music with my sansa clip and didn't like it. Didn't really like the distraction and didn't like the clarity.

The intercom part works good. My wife and I use them all the time. They are good for a couple hunderd yards.

Do you use this with a full faced helmet? I picked up a set of these and the mic seems to be a problem with the full face helmets I have. Do you just bend it around until you get it in the right place?

Yes, You just bend it around thats why it's on a flexable boom. once you get it adjusted right it's good from that point on.

What kind of problem are you having??

Mine sit's against the inside of the chin bar and I have about a half inch between it and my lips.  However, I learned early on if you want to be heard clearly you need to push it against your lips at least while talking.  It took some getting used too but now it's fine.

Put on some new meat up front today.  Mich PR3

One of these day's I'll update this thread with everything I have done to my bike including my led blinkers in my mirrors and my home made trailer hitch.

Today I played around with my new GoPro camera & helmet mount. Going to be fun to record some video on the bike. I'm also going to try mounting it on a skull cap helmet I have while behind my drum kit & record my band from the drummers perspective Grin

Today I finished getting the Magna ready for this thursday. Checked tire pressure, rear diff oil, engine oil, Made some custom clips to keep the saddlebags against the new support brackets I installed last week, Changed out my Kg backrest pad with a new one, Installed a mount on top of the guage cluster to hold my GoPro camera, Gave the bike a quick cleaning & polishing, Re-installed the rear tailbag & called it a day!!!. Friggin cold in the garage all day Shocked

Tonight I installed my Scala rider wireless & headphones into my new helmet. The new helmet has pockets for speakers so it is so comfortable to not feel the speakers digging into your ears!!!!. I also FINALLY put my Dragon stickers on the Magna, Only took almost a year!!. Figured I'd get them on before I ride the dragon again in may Grin

Got the new tires on the bike. Put a couple hunderd miles on them on the weekend. It was a bit nippy on Sunday. I got the Metzelers and really like them.

I have the bike all ready. I just have to dig out the go pro and find a good spot to mount it on the bike. Oh and learn how to use it.

I will bring my scala it's pretty easy to sync them up.

Having got the front lights installed on Sam’s FZ6 I decided to take the afternoon off and work on the rears. Everyone mentioned that the signal lights were not very good at FGT last week. I sort of knew that, but looking down at those surface mount tail lights is different than looking at them at car or bike level from behind. That I didn’t know. Here’s what they looked like mounted on the cases.

So I sourced a new tail section and signals for $20 on eBay. What a deal! The only thing wrong with it was that the license plate light housing was busted. So I picked up a $3 license plate light at autozone to mount in there. It was chrome so I painted it black.

Then junior tells me today that he wants to keep the cases on. Okay, thought I’d figure out a way to make it work but there was no way I was going make that work without making it look stoopid looking. Here’s the tail section installed. I had to trip quite a bit off the top because of the Givi brackets, but I got it in there. That was some of the crapiest wiring I’ve ever seen. It fell apart when I touched it. So I had to rewire everything.

I figured I's just get the light kit from Givi, but that was $150! Went down to autozone and picked up some led panels instead…a 20 and a 12 for each side. Viola! 32 LEDS. Can you see it now?  Grin

Holy shit, do these things suck on wet roads! My ABS and Traction Control were working over time last weekend when we went to Daytona.  Grin

Also, I had Barneys install my Heidenau K60 Scout dual-purp tires over the weekend and picked it up yesterday afternoon. Sweet!

I shot past 4,000 miles on the KL250's odometer on the way to work this morning after having it for just a couple weeks under a year.  Grin

I also stopped and filled it up for 66.5 mpg on the last tank...and that was 100% city driving! I've commuted to work on motorcycles every day but 2 in 2012. The gas savings really adds up.  hello2

I did some maintenance work on the Yamaha FZ6 my kid and I share today, including changing the spark plugs, flushing the coolant, replacing the battery, and flushing the brake hydraulics. The spark plug replacement on this model is known to be a real pain in the ass, and quite frankly, I couldn’t do it by following the service manual, which has you accessing two plugs from one side and two plugs from the other side. The one (of four) plugs that’s a huge problem to get to is number 2 of 4 from the left to right. This is a known issue and discussed at length in the FZ1, FZ6 and FZ8 forums. While it seems most folks can get to it, the only way I could get to it was removing the radiator that resides right in front of the motor. Then I could get to all four of the plugs from the front and it wasn’t a problem.

At 16,500 miles this should have been the second spark plug replacement according to the service manual. I bought this bike at a dealer and was told that the prior owner was a lady who had all her service done by a dealer, although not the selling dealer. So, look at that No. 2 plug that came out. Now I could be wrong and admit to wild speculation on this, but I’ll bet you that the dealer couldn’t get to that No. 2 plug at the service call so didn’t change it.

If there’s one reason for doing your own maintenance, you know you’ve done it right.

I can tell you that is a nice looking bike. I pulled in to get some coffee on a ride about a week ago. I saw that bike and knew it had to be Matt. I looked around and found him.

Good to meet you and talk for a bit Matt.

Give me a call when you guys go on a keys ride. I can be down to Cafe 27 in about an hour.
