I have heard people say the good riding is around Ocala.

Anybody have recommendations on roads or loops?

Don's got some loops up in that area on his website. If you can get over to the west coast you can pick up the Ozello trail which is kind of cool and there's a restaurant back in there that was pretty good. On the top end of that loop, there are probably some better roads than 44 which was murder during the Leesburg bikefest.

If you can get into the Ocala National Forest it's pretty scenic heading north on SR19 up and around the Kerr Lake area.

Otherwise, I think we need to do a scouting expedition for biketoberfest coming up.

Further north & west of the loops I have is farm/horse country.  It is really pretty and some nice riding.  Dunnellon area, north or west.  Typical FL though, the roads are meant to get you there and with little in the way, they are mostly straight.

One of the best rides around is the Ozello Trail dt mentioned.  Just have to suck it up to get to it.  My wife loves the soft shelled crab at Peck's Old Port Cove near the end of the trail.  It is worth the trip.  Burgers aren't bad either.

I ate at Pecks 2 weeks ago, The soft shell crab sandwich was great!!, Ozello trail is what I call "Florida's Dragon" Grin. I know a few curvy back roads that can eliminate some of the boring straight run on 44 to get to the ozello trail. One of the best rides is the sugarloaf mountain run off of Route 561, from there you can run old state rd 50 & pick up allot more curves. Some of the best riding in central Florida is around here. The ocala forest is okay to ride threw, It's pretty & peaceful but straight & boring at the same time. I'll be camping at windy acres Thursday threw sunday for biketober/campfest. If anyone wants to do some scouting ahead of time let me know & we can hook up.
