If you missed the kick-off of Saturday College Football yesterday, then you missed the USF Bulls pull off a real stunner in South Bend beating sixteenth ranked Notre Dame in their first meeting and season opener. Way to go Bulls!

I am not generally a Bull's fan but I am a fan of any one that play's ND!!  Awesome game!!  I was busy watching my Wolverine's look not too great in a game shortened because of lightning win over Western Michigan a team from the MAC.   Roll Eyes  The score of 34-10 sounds like a great win but it was pretty ugly and only that high because of two defensive TD's.   Also caught the end of the LSU victory over the Duck's.

Notre Dame football seems to have been jinxed for the last quarter century.

Wow. They just announced that Lee Roy Selmon died. 56 Years Old. Damn!

If you haven't been following, he had a stroke two days ago and the USF team dedicated the game to him yesterday. But reports were looking good and his brother said he was doing okay just a little earlier today. I served on a board with Lee Roy probably about 10 or 11 years ago and can tell you he was a down to earth really good guy. RIP Lee Roy.

I had just posted this on the V4 site in my NFL thread over there.

I just noticed that Big Blue plays Notre Dame this weekend. 0-2 for the Fighting Irish. Who the heck ranked them 16th pre season (AP)?

When I was a kid, Notre Dame was college football, but times have changed. There have been a number of articles written this week about the demise of that institution and the consensus is basically that the extent of today's media coverage across the board simply makes going to ND less attractive. That is, a high profile NFL candidate can get just as much media exposure playing for USF or UCF...or Baylor (<kicked a little TCU butt last weekend) than they would playing for a school like Notre Dame. That seems to make sense. But what really lost me was when they declined the Little Caesars Bowl in 2009 citing that the bowl was beneath them. That just pissed me off.

So, the AP came out today and USF is at 22...remember when they were 2...lol! Maybe Skip Holtz has a better plan. Also, Oregon slipped all the way down from 3 to 13. I thought that was a little harsh for losing to number 4.

Didn't see the game yesterday, but from what I'm reading here the Michigan-ND looks to have turned into a real nail biter in the fourth quarter...Michigan winning on a td with eight seconds left. And 28 of 35 points in the fourth.

It was one of the most exciting games I have ever watched.  Not one of the best games because both defenses's suck ass.  3 TD's in the final 1:12.  MI, goes up by 4 with a 1:12 left.  ND, comes back and takes a 3 point lead with .30 left and MI goes back into the lead by 4 with .02 left.  On the final kick off ND fumbled the ball, MI recovered and was running it back for yet another TD but the player fumbled the ball as he approached the goal line and the momentum carried the ball out of the back of the end zone.  Game over and the final TD would not have meant anything except to gamblers.  Denard Robinson from Deerfield Beach High School by the way, was not his usual awesome self and still had almost 500 yards passing and running!!  The best part for this kid is Brady Hoke is teaching him a pro style offense so he will come out of college with the training of a classic drop back passer but the skills of Michael Vick whom never has learned to be the classic QB.  That makes Vick exciting to watch but not as effective in my opinion, although, Andy Reid might be changing that.

Now, if my Lions can pull one out against your Buc's it will be a perfect weekend.   Grin

Well, I would have liked to watch that game, except that it was the only game in the entire friggin' NFL that was blacked out on opening day.

The Dallas collapse today was worse than the USF collapse Thursday night. Lions...first 4-0 since 1980!
