I have a facebook account, but I mostly use it to keep track of my kid's facebook activities. I put some photos and information in my facebook but I really don't know how (or why) to use it. So anyway, I clicked on one of these f like links that are now on threads/posts and the thread now shows up in my facebook. Okay...I still don't understand. I think I just told my "facebook-self" that I like a thread in biker florida. So what's the point of facebook? Not being negative, that's not me. Is there a way perhaps to use it to solicit some possible members or something like that?

I don't do FB either but I do use the wife's account to see pictures of my nieces and to keep up with old friends from time to time.  I believe the purpose is when you "Like" something, then other's can see that you "Liked" it and they might be enticed to take a look also.

My son finally reluctantly set up an FB account last May while we were in NC because he realized it was the easiest way to keep up on the girls at school  Grin but otherwise is unimpressed with it as well and he is a freshman this year.  From what I am reading and hearing the younger tech inspired kids are over it and looking for the next big thing.  I just set up a Google Plus account which is similar because I am all about "Google" and everything they offer.  I kind of hate getting so wrapped up in a company with most of my stuff but I love the ease of "Cloud computing" with Google and how I can access everything no matter what internet portal I use.

I don't know what the next "Big thing" is going to be but I wish I did.   Grin

My wife keeps me informed on the happenings in the face book world. That is enough for me.

I use Facebook a good bit.  It does help me keep up with some friends and around town happenings, but mostly it is another tool to promote not only the bike events going on at the farm, but my brother promotes the horse activities as well.  It seems to be the best common ground at the moment.

Who knows what it will be next year, or even next month for that matter?

I hit the FaceBook Like button on the September 17th thread.  I don't see where it even shows up in my FaceBook?  We have some long distance family/friends on FaceBook and I thought maybe that would be a quick way to link them to BikerFlorida.

Maybe Bones can explain what is supposed to happen or what we are supposed to do?

When I log into facebook I go to a welcome page. That’s where all these strange people say they want to be my friend…icky, ooo. There is a list of Groups and I am in a jeep club group that shows up there. Then I click on my name next to my avatar and a page pops up called The Wall, although there’s nothing there about Pink Floyd…however, that’s the page that has the link to the What did you do to your motorcycle thread that I clicked the like button for. Try finding that wall.

Ok, found it on my profile page.  I then Shared it to my Wall and then my Friends could see it.  When they click on the link, it does take them to BikerFlorida.Com.  So, yes it could help drive traffic here.

BTW, you must be hiding under an assumed name on FaceBook.  I was going to friend request you, but I came up empty on the FaceBook search.

Nope, not using an assumed name, but am using William for first name.

I had missed the "See more Results link."  There are 2 of you!!  At least yours had a bike pic so it was easy enough to choose the right one.

I use Facebook quite a bit now. Mostly to keep up with friends old and new; or at least that's what it started out as. Before you know it, checking your "wall" ends up being like sifting through all the spam in your email and your friends posts end up getting lost in the din. At least that's what's happened to me.

If you like a product, news station, or other medium then all of the sudden you're overrun with updates from them. It quickly becomes information overload lol. I still check it once every couple of days just to see if any one of my actual friends is attempting to contact me. That Google+ thing seems pretty cool but I could see how it could turn into more of the same.

I signed up to that biker or not website tonight.

Is it me, or is that exactly like face book? Has that wall thing and everything.

There are a few rides and events listed in there, but I didn't see much. Lots of chat. I'll tour a little deeper during commercials for the LSU-bama game.

I was asked to join it last weekend by the chick that was promoting Hep C awareness.  I don't do a lot of event's but it seems to have a pretty complete directory.

I have been on BON for quite a while.  Yup, almost like FaceBook.  I am there mostly because we have a good BON crowd join our camping.  They are definately wilder there than FaceBook.
